Momo Hamaini is back - in windy Dakhla

Kitemorocco team rider Momo Hamaini is back to training in windy Dakhla after competitions in Fuerteventura Kiteboarding Grand Slam and Tenerife Kite Masters. Here are some his impressions about the biggest kitesurf events of this summer.

Momo Hamaini:

“PKRA event in Fuerteventura was super nice. I arrived just one day before the competition, so I managed to train a bit. The first day started with really hard conditions – the wind was blowing 35-45 knots and the water was rather choppy. It was definitely not easy for all the riders. I was kiting with 7m Vegas and it was very powerful. Unfortunately I didn’t have luck that day and lost my heat. So I just kept training and doing photos sessions with PKRA photographer Toby Bromwich.

After competitions in Fuerteventura were over I took plane to Tenerife to take part in Kite Masters 2011. J The conditions seemed to be perfect there– nice kickers and side-on wind. On this step we were supposed to do some handle passes and to kite for show as well – doing big airs, board-offs – for all the spectators who were a lot there.

I was kiting against the best rider – Youri Zoon of course – and it was especially cool because we’ve been training together in Dakhla just two weeks ago before these competitions. We don’t have to forget to mention Tom Hebert who is the king of the big air in opinion. He was so technical and clean.

I took 9th place and I was happy about my last heat when I did big kite loop handle pass and high s-bend pass, 313. When I was doing my best tricks (front blind mobe) my kite passed very closed to the judges. I was lucky not to break it”.
